ONE Friday Fights 92: Sitthichai Ready To Showcase His Experience Against Shadow

By Mike Joseph

Thai striking legend Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong is preparing for his final bout of 2024, where he will face rising star Shadow Singha Mawynn in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 92 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on 20 December.

On that night, two different generations of Muay Thai will collide against each other but only one will move closer to earning a ONE World Title shot in the future.

Shadow is in tremendous form, having won his last three bouts. But the 33-year-old Sitthichai accepted this fight so he can show the world he's still got it. In fact, he acknowledges his opponent's strength and is ready to leverage his own experience.

"I decided to accept this fight because I want to prove myself against a rising star. I want to prove that I have maintained my skills. It's a big challenge, so I decided to accept the fight offer," Sitthichai said.

"I was very excited when I found out I was going to fight against Shadow. I'm glad to fight him. He's in hot form. He's a great fighter. I want to prove that I can use all of my life experience to go blow-for-blow."

The Sitsongpeenong star boats a kickboxing and Muay Thai record of 129-35-5. After achieving success in Muay Thai on home soil, he tested his skills internationally in kickboxing and won the Glory World Title multiple times while defeating some of the biggest names in the game.

He hasn't, however, competed in his country's national sport since September 2023. Still, Sitthichai believes he has been a Muay Thai fighter all his life, and Muay Thai runs in his veins.

"Many people may think that I am only good in kickboxing rules, but the fact is I grew up with Muay Thai. I have been a Muay Thai fighter my whole life. And I combine Muay Thai techniques with kickboxing," former eight-time Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion said.

"Actually, Muay Thai is my main discipline, but when I went to kickboxing, there were just some weapons that I couldn't use. I trained and adapted to fit the rules that I competed in. Muay Thai has always run through my veins, so I don't have to adapt much."
