ONE Samurai 1: “Words Don’t Matter, Action Does”- Grigorian, Kaito Set for Heated Showdown
Marat Grigorian and Kaito Ono will finally meet in a featherweight kickboxing clash at ONE SAMURAI 1 on 29 April. The rivalry carries strong bad blood after their original bout at ONE 172 collapsed over a late weight issue and sparked a public war of words.
The pair were first booked for ONE 172 last year, but drama hit days before the fight. Grigorian missed weight by less than a pound. Kaito rejected a catchweight offer, the bout was cancelled, and tension between the two strikers escalated on social media and in interviews.

Veteran Grigorian brings elite record and momentum into Japan showdown
Grigorian, a 34-year-old Armenian star, owns a 69-14 career record after years dominating Glory Kickboxing as a three-time World Champion. He enters this contest on a two-fight winning streak and holds a 6-3 mark in ONE Championship, adding experience and form to this grudge match.
Grigorian said the missed weight drama tested his warrior mentality. He stressed that real fighters step up in any situation but added that now, “Words don't matter anymore. Action does.” He kept his prediction private but promised Kaito would feel his power in round one.
Kaito targets first ONE win and hometown statement in Japan
Kaito, a 28-year-old Japanese striker, brings a strong 59-9 record into the bout. He fights at home and is still chasing his first ONE Championship victory after an unsuccessful promotional debut last year, making this clash a key test on his return to the global stage.
For Kaito, the contest goes beyond rankings or records. He said, “It is a very important fight in my career. Of course, I want to make my dad proud.” He expects a tough battle but sees himself finishing Grigorian by knockout for the home fans.
