Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley is excited about facing the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. The Magic secured their spot by defeating the Atlanta Hawks 120-95 in the play-in game on Tuesday. This victory sets up a first-round clash with the Celtics, who are the current champions. Despite Boston winning 20 more games than Orlando during the regular season, Mosley remains optimistic.
The Magic have struggled in recent years, losing five consecutive opening-round series since the 2009-10 season. Last year, they pushed the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games but ultimately lost 106-94. Facing a team like Boston presents significant challenges, yet Mosley believes his team can find a way to compete effectively.

"It's a great opportunity to play against the best team in the league, and they're the champs still until somebody beats 'em," Mosley said, as reported by ESPN. "What they present is a lot of challenges, and we have to try to find a way to figure that out."
Cole Anthony was instrumental in Tuesday's win, scoring 26 points off the bench. He noted how they maintained control after an initial run by their opponents: "We went on our own run and we weathered the storm. We didn't let them back in the game from that point on." Wendell Carter Jr., Paolo Banchero, and Anthony Black also contributed significantly.
Anthony Black's performance was notable with a +34 plus/minus rating, his highest ever in any regular-season game. His +105 over his last twelve games leads the team. Banchero expressed excitement about how opponents would defend him: "It was a fun game, a big-time game, a unique type of challenge," he said.
The win percentage gap between Orlando and Boston is significant at .244. Historically, only two teams have overcome larger disparities: The Golden State Warriors against Dallas Mavericks in 2007 (.305) and Denver Nuggets versus Seattle Supersonics in 1994 (.256). Despite this challenge, Orlando recently defeated Boston, boosting their confidence.
The Hawks will face either Chicago Bulls or Miami Heat next after Trae Young's ejection affected their performance against Orlando. Young received two technical fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct towards referees James Williams and Pat Fraher.
"Sometimes when I take my frustration out on refs it's not just for me," Young explained post-game. "It's for my teammates. If you see a foul, you should call it."
As Orlando prepares for their playoff series against Boston, they aim to leverage recent successes while addressing areas needing improvement. Their determination remains strong as they face one of basketball's toughest challenges.
