Over 10,000 skiers to visit Kashmir next winter
Srinagar, Jun 6 (UNI) A record number of 10,000 skiers are expected to visit the Kashmir valley during next winter to enjoy the world's best ski slopes in Gulmarg.
Last year, around 5,000 had visited the famed ski resort.
Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir stated this while interacting with golfers from Patna. They were here to participate in the inter-state Golf Championship at Royal Springs Golf Course.
Bihar lifted the inter-state Golf championship defeating hosts Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister told the visiting golfers that Kashmir provided a varied range of attraction for visitors, including pilgrim, heritage and adventure tourism, like skiing, snow sports and golfing.
The state government endeavours to exploit full potential of Golf which has emerged as a big tourist attraction these days, he added.
For the purpose, Mr Mir said, a circuit of Golf courses was being developed in Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar and Jammu.
The Minister also called for private sector participation in building the required tourist infrastructure in the state for attracting tourists in large numbers from all over the world.
A power point presentation on Ladakh was also done by the Tourism Department on the occasion.
The golfers from Patna narrated their experience in Kashmir and expressed full satisfaction over the existing infrastructure in the Valley. They promised to bring golfers in large numbers from other parts of the country to Kashmir for playing golf.
