Oz athletes disappointed with CWG organisers

New Delhi, Oct 5: Australia's chef de mission expressed their disappointment at the Commonwealth Games 2010 organising committee and claimed that they were treated as cattle in the opening ceremony on Oct 3.

"I was very, very disappointed with the way that the event staff conducted the ceremony and with total disregard for athlete welfare," stated Australian official.

He asserted that during CWG opening ceremony, Australian athletes waited in a hot tunnel more than one hour before entering the field with their national flag.

The whole incident reduced the confidence of the athletes from the organising committee and it would have negative impact on athletes' decision of participating in any further opening ceremony, claimed the official.

His statement added, "the athletes have lost confidence with the event organisers. It will impact on future Australian athletes' involvement at the opening ceremony."
