Guwahati, Feb 12 (UNI) Delhi swimmer Richa Mishra set the pool ablaze winning two more gold to take her tally to six even as Manipur continued to lead the medals tally in the 33rd National Games here today.
Richa won 200m backstroke gold and 400 meter individual medley, to raise her individual gold kitty to six, on a day which saw swimmers rewriting five new Games records.
Meanwhile, Manipur took a huge lead in the medals tally, pocketing 34 gold, 20 more than second-placed Delhi (14 gold) while hosts Asom and Karnataka are tied for the third spot with ten gold each.
Many of Delhi and Asom's gold medals were actually picked up Manipuri players turning up for their adopted states.
With Wushu and Taekwondo giving them as many as 21 gold -- 14 in Wushu and seven in Taekwondo -- the small North Eastern state also swept the fencing disciplne, claiming all the seven gold medals on offer today.
Meanwhile, after three days of sunshine, bad weather returned to haunt the Games as Guwahati and its surrounding areas received light rain today.
The met office predicted similar weather -- light rain and temperature around 20 degree Celsius -- for the next five days, which has sent the Games organisers into a tizzy, even as Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi instructed them to remain prepared for any eventuality.
