Paddlers off to good start at Asian Championship

New Delhi, July 25: Indian junior paddlers put up an impressive show at the opening day of 13th Asian Table Tennis Championship in Hoengseong, Korea today, with both the boys and girls team standing in line for a prospective quarter-final berth.

In the Junior Boy's team event, India, placed in Group A, defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the first tie of the day. Carrying on their form, the young paddlers later outplayed Iran 3-1 and Qator 3-0. They will now take on Vietnam and Japan in their remaining group tie tomorrow.

In the Cadet Boys's team event, India beat Qatar 3-1. They will next play Korea-2 team.

Meanwhile, in the Junior Girls team event, though the Indian eves outplayed Iran 3-0 and Chinese Taipei 3-1, they lost to Singapore 0-3 in their last Group B encounter.

However, in the Cadet Girls's team event, placed in Group A, India thrashed Macau 3-0. Their next opponent are Korea-2 and Thailand.
