Padmini Rout emerges sole leader
Hyderabad, May 24 (UNI) Top seed Padmini Rout of Orissa emerged the sole leader with 5.5 points at the end of the sixth round in the 34th national women-B chess championship, being played at KVBR Indoor Stadium, here today.
Padmini, playing with black pieces, adopted Sicilian defence against her statemate Kiran Manisha Mohanty (5). With equal position in the end game, Mohanty proposed a draw on 37th on the move, which was accepted by Padmini.
Apart from Kiran Manisha Mohanty, defending champion Sai Meera of BSB, Nimmy George of Kerala, P Priya of Tamil Nadu, Ch Divya Sri of Vijayawada and Savitha of Tamil Nadu were jointly in the second position with five points each. Andhra girls Lakshmi Sahiti, Ramya Krishna and Kanuri Tejasvi were placed jointly at third with 4.5 points.
