Pak investigates in CWG flag bearer row

New Delhi, Oct 4: Pakistan Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered to start an investigation into the flag-bearer controversy at the CWG opening ceremony.

Gilani on Monday, Oct 4, asked Sports Minister, Ijaz Jakhrani to "inquire into the incident and submit a report to him (Gilani) urgently."

During the Commonwealth Games' opening ceremony on Oct 3, a top sports official snatched Pakistan's national flag from a sportsperson, who was designated as the flag-bearer.

Sheikh Rashid, the coach of the weightlifting team informed that Malik, a gold medalist at the last Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, supposed to carry the flag and lead the Pakistani contingent.

At the last moment, the leader of the contingent, Muhammad Ali Shah announced that he would carry the flag.

Rashid said members of the weightlifting team took the incident as an insult and insisted that the flag should had been carried by Malik as it was announced earlier.
