Pak team not involved in match fixing: Ashraf to Pak senators
Lahore, Mar 28 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf has told Pakistan senators if any player or official was required by the Jamaican police for further investigations the Board would provide him with full legal assistance.
Ashraf was asked by the Senate Committee for Sports why lawyers were not sent to Jamaica when police interviewed the Pakistan players after the murder of their coach Bob Woolmer to which he answered that the PCB would do it in future if required.
He also reiterated to the committee that no Pakistan players or officials were involved in the murder or in match-fixing.
Ashraf said if some one speculates such news than he is not only the enemy of Pakistan cricket but also the enemy of Pakistan.
He said Woolmer was just like a family member of Pakistan cricket team and the PCB would provide every assistance to Woolmer's family.
''I will personally attend the funeral of Bob Woolmer in Cape Town,'' Ashraf added.
Jamaican police interrogated the whole Pakistan team once while captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, assistant coach Mushtaq Ahmed and team manager Talat Ali twice after Woolmer's death. The squad also gave DNA samples and fingerprints.
