Pakistan defeats Bangladesh in playoff match
Chennai, Sep 8 (UNI) Having crashed out of medal contention for the first time in tournament's history, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh 10-0 in the playoff match for the fifth to eighth places in the Asia Cup Hockey here today.
Abbas Haider, Tariq Aziz and Muhammad Arshad struck a brace each and penalty corner specialist Muhammad Imran came up with two impeccable drag flicks as Pakistan gave vent to their pumped up frustrations by striking at will.
Waqas Shariff and Yasir Islam scored one goal each to complete the rout.
In other playoff matches, China defeated Hong Kong 6-1 and Singapore beat Thailand 4-0.
