Panesar bowls England to victory

MANCHESTER, England, June 11 (Reuters) Monty Panesar took six wickets for 137 to help bowl England to a 60-run victory against West Indies at Old Trafford today, ending the tourists' hopes of a record run chase.

The victory gave England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four test series with one match to play.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (116 not out) scored his first test hundred for two years but his team fell short of their 455 target and were all out for 394 shortly after lunch on the final day. The record chase stays at 418 by West Indies in 2003.

Panesar exploited a wearing pitch that offered him considerable bounce and turn and claimed his first 10-wicket match haul in tests.

Steve Harmison took four for 95 in the innings.

Michael Vaughan is now England's most successful test captain of all time having surpassed Peter May's 20 victories.
