Pankaj remembers his teacher Savur

It was under Savur's tutelage in Bengaluru that Pankaj's career really took shape.

Bengaluru, September 5: Bengaluru boy Pankaj Advani also joined the leading chorus of sportsmen to remember the first steps towards stardom.

Today, September 5, being Teachers Day, many stars including cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to remember their guides.

Pankaj, the multiple world champion in billiards and snooker paid tributes to his coach Arvind Savur to mark the occassion.

It was under Savur's tutelage at the Karnataka State Billiards Association in Bengaluru that Pankaj's career really took shape.

The golden boy of Indian cue sports has so far won 16 world titles across all formats. he is also the recepient of the highest sports honour in India -- the Khel Ratna.

Pankaj has often credited former national snooker champion Savur for his success calling him "father figure and the man who taught me everything."

The mutual respect each other have is admirable and it is evident from this comment Savur made about his ward not long ago.

"You have to be focused and not succumb to distractions, which is what I have always told him. He has never deviated from that goal and he is dedicated and hardworking," said Savur.

The Badminton Association of India also tweeted in honour of the coaches.
