Para Asian Games 2023 Medal Tally on October 23: India began the opening day by sweeping all the three medals in men's high jump T63 and men's club throw F51 events in Hangzhou 2022.
India has sent a total of 309 athletes, including 196 men and 113 women, to compete in the 4th Asian Para Games. It's a large number when compared to the contingent of the last edition of the Games, where 188 athletes had represented the nation in Jakarta.

Shooter Avani Lekhara, High Jumpers Shailesh Kumar and Nishad Kumar as well as Club Thrower Pranav Soorma clinched gold in the respective categories to begin their Hangzhou Asian Para Games with a bang here on Monday (October 23).
Kumar set an Asian Para Games record of 1.82m to win the men's high jump T63 gold while compatriots Mariyappan Thangavelu (1.80m) took the silver. Only three Indians were, however, the only competitors in the event.
In men's club throw F51 event, Soorma also produced an Asian Para Games record of 30.01m to clinch the gold while Dharambir (28.76m) and Amit Kumar (26.93m) were second and third respectively. There were only four competitors in the event with Saudi Arabia's Radhi Ali Alharthi finishing last with a throw of 23.77m.
In men's high jump T47, Nishad bagged gold and Ram Pal bagged silver, while Monu Ghangas won a bronze medal in men's shot put F11 event with an effort of 12.33m. In women's canoe VL2 event, Prachi Yadav won a silver with a time of 1:03.147.
In shooting, Rudransh Khandelwal bagged silver in mixed 50m pistol SH1 event to take India to fourth in the medal tally with 17 medals - 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze so far. Here is look at the Indian medallists:
