Idnia's Paralympian Preethi Pal created history in the Paris 2024 Paralympics with a Bronze medal in the 100m T35 event on Friday (August 30).
Preethi's journey to the podium was marked by determination and speed, competing against a strong field. China's Zhou Xia won gold with a season-best time of 13.58 seconds, followed by Guo Qianqian, who secured silver with a personal-best time of 13.74 seconds.

Earlier in 2024, Preethi had her breakthrough moment at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan. Competing in the women's T35 200m event, she clinched a bronze medal with a personal best time of 30.49 seconds. This made her the first Indian woman to win a medal in this competitive event at the World Championships.
With the Bronze in Paralympics, Preethi Pal has etched her name in history books. She has now managed to enlist herself in an elite list as the UP-born athlete becomes only the second Indian woman after Deepa Malik to win a Paralympics medal in athletics. Deepa Malik won a silver medal at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics eight years ago in Shot Put event.
She has also become the fifth Indian woman after Deepa Malik, Avani Lekhara, Bhavina Patel and Mona Agarwal to win a medal for India in the Paralympics.
