Paris 2024 Olympics Highlights, 3rd August: As the Paris Olympics 2024 enters its eighth day, Indian athletes are set to compete across multiple disciplines with high hopes of adding to the nation's medal tally. Here's a look at the key events featuring Indian competitors.

We fold our Live coverage for Day 8 as another medal slips out of India's hand after coming that close. First Manu Bhaker finished fourth now Nishant Dev.

Here's the complete judges' result as Marco Verde won the final round by unanimous verdict while the overall judges' result was a 4:1 split verdict. Hard luck for Nishant, who gave it everything against the 2nd seed

Nishant Dev loses the quarterfinal bout to Marco Verde following a closely-fought final round. While the final verdict is not known yet it's easy to predict that it must have been a split verdict with boxers throwing hard punches.
Since Vijender Singh, this is first time we are seeing a middleweight category boxer dominating the ring and taking the fight to the boxers at the highest level!
A good retaliation by Marco late in the second round after the second round started slow. Nishant, for some reasons, didn't show the agility of the first round! The judges give the second round in favour Verde by a split verdict of 2-3 while it's all equal in overall results!

Marco Verde and Nishant Dev are set for a high-stakes clash in the Paris Olympics 2024 quarterfinals. Dev defeated Verde in a close 3-2 decision in the past but since then Verde has won 32 of his 35 bouts, including the Pan America title!

Mexican boxer Marco Verde, a 22-year-old rising star from Guadalajara, is the reigning Pan American Games champion. He secured his Olympic spot after defeating Jose Rodriguez in the Pan Am final.
Known for his strong and technical style, Verde is the second seed in his category. In Paris, he received a bye in the first round and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 split-decision victory over Mozambique's Tiago Muxanga. Verde's impressive record makes him a formidable contender in this high-stakes match.

Welcome back! We are back in time for India's last and important action of the day as Indian boxer Nishant Dev takes on Pan America Champion Marco Verde in the Men's 71kg Quarterfinal.
Everything is at stake for Nishant as a victory tonight will confirm a bronze medal at least as boxing is among the few sports which grants bronze medals to semifinalists and there are no third-place match

Maheshwari Chauhan had another strong round as she shot 24 out of a possible 25 in Round 3, taking her aggregate score to 71/75. She is now at the 8th spot and remains a shot behind the 6th-placed shooter Danka Bartekova (72/75).
Meanwhile, another Indian Raiza Dhillon is down at 25th with a score of 66/75.

Anant Jeet Singh Naruka ends his Paris Olympics campaign with a 24th-place finish in the Men's Skeet Shooting Qualification Round with an overall score of 116 out of a possible 125. The cut-off for Top 6 qualification was at 122/125.
Golf Update: Shubhankar Sharma's Round 3 is going from bad to worse as the Indian golfer has now slumped to T47 by the 14th Hole. The 28-year-old golfer is yet to hit a birdie today while stroking three bogies so far to a par stroke now (0).
Meanwhile, Gaganjeet Singh Bhullar has been in a bit of a hurry today as he has already wrapped up his Round 3 with three birdies and as many bogies today! He remains at 2-over-par (+2)

The result ends India's medal run from archery as all the archers are now out of the competition. Indian archers once again return empty-handed from an Olympics
As far as Day 8 for India is concerned, all eyes are now on boxer Nishant Dev, who takes on Marco Verde in the quarterfinal. A victory for him tonight also seals India's medal!

The next hour and a half is going to be crucial as by the end of it Deepika Kumari may become the first Indian archer to win an Olympic medal. All our focus is now on Deepika, who first appeared at an Olympic as a teenager and now is in her fourth as a proud mother!

Maheshwari Chauhan (in photo) keeps herself in the race for sixth spot as she shoots a 24 out of a possible 25 in her second round after scoring 23 in her opening round. Her aggregate (47/50) takes her to the 14th spot and just a shot behind sixth-placed Vanesa Hockova (Slovakia), who is holding the final qualifying spot.
Maheshwari's compatriot Raiza Dhillon is struggling at the back at 27th spot with an aggregate of 43/50. Three more rounds are left for her to recover, including two of them tomorrow
Shubhankar Sharma has dropped to T38 at 2-under-par (-2) after the Hoele 5 of Round 3 as he struggled with a bogey on Hole 4. Surprisingly no birdies from him in the front 9 yet while he managed eagles on Hole 3 twice in previous rounds.
Meanwhile, Gaganjeet Singh Bhullar has teed off and is at T51 after he shot a birdie on Hole 3 but lost another stroke at Hole 7 to a bogey.
Reigning champion Alexander Schauffele, Britain's Tommy Fleetwood and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama remain T1 at 11-under-par (-11)
