India's Swapnil Kusale has clinched the bronze medal in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday (August 1).

The 28-year-old shooter displayed exceptional skill and precision to secure India's third medal at the Games, all of which have come in shooting and all of which are bronze.

Debutant Kusale's journey to the podium was marked by his consistent performance across the kneeling, prone, and standing stages of the event.

In the final, Kusale continued his strong performance. He scored 153.3 in the kneeling stage and 310.1 in the prone stage, setting himself up well for the final standing stage. His scores of 422.1 in stage two of standing and 431.5 in the elimination stage were impressive, but it was his final score of 451.4 that sealed his bronze medal victory.

Kusale's achievement adds to India's growing success in shooting at the Paris Olympics, with all three medals so far coming from this sport. His bronze medal performance also highlights the depth of talent in Indian shooting, as Kusale joins his compatriots in bringing pride to the nation.

Reacting after his historic bronze, Kusale said on JioCinema: "My heart is still racing as it was during the event. Felt a lot of pressure but I am glad I finally am able to win an Olympic medal for my country!"
