The recent Paris Olympics have sparked a surge in sports enthusiasm across India, leading to a notable rise in searches for sports training centres.
An analysis of consumer search trends by Justdial reveals that from July 26th to August 12th, there was a significant increase in searches for various sports training facilities compared to the previous month.

Nationwide, searches for sports training centres saw an impressive 110% increase during the Olympics. This trend was particularly strong in metropolitan cities, where searches rose by 133%, compared to a 92% increase in non-metropolitan areas.
Among major cities, Kolkata experienced the highest surge with a 224% increase in searches. Pune followed closely with a 203% jump, while Mumbai recorded a 171% rise. Delhi saw a 157% increase, and Ahmedabad witnessed a 154% growth. Hyderabad recorded a 94% surge, Bangalore saw a 69% rise, and Chennai experienced a 60% increase.
In non-metropolitan areas, Dehradun reported an astounding 281% increase in searches for sports training centres. Patna followed with a 263% rise, and Guwahati saw a 246% jump. These figures highlight the widespread interest in sports training across different regions of India.

The Olympics had a noticeable impact on various sports categories. Javelin throw classes saw an extraordinary 825% increase in searches, likely driven by Neeraj Chopra's performance. Pistol shooting and rifle shooting training centres also experienced significant growth, with searches increasing by 282% and 230%, respectively.
Other sports such as archery, sword fencing, badminton, table tennis, and hockey coaching classes also witnessed notable spikes in search interest. Archery classes saw a remarkable rise of 193%, while sword fencing classes increased by 162%. Hockey coaching classes experienced an 81% growth, badminton clubs and classes saw a 78% rise, and table tennis classes recorded a 73% increase.
Certain cities showed exceptional enthusiasm for specific sports. Pune emerged as a hotspot for rifle shooting training centres with an incredible 1013% increase in searches. Delhi and Hyderabad led the way in archery classes with increases of 747% and 733%, respectively. Mumbai dominated pistol shooting training centre searches with a staggering 921% surge.
The city-wise spikes for javelin throw were particularly impressive. Mumbai led with an astonishing 4332% increase, followed by Pune at 3942%, and Delhi at 1085%.
The comparison period used for this analysis was from July 26th to August 12th versus June 26th to July 12th. The data highlights the significant impact of the Olympics on boosting interest in various sports training facilities across India, which can be considered as a massive positive for the future.
