Shreyasi Singh is now a part of India's shooting contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The trap shooter has been included after the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) approved a request for a quota swap made by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
As Manu Bhaker had secured top spots in both the women's 10m air pistol and women's 25m pistol events, the NRAI decided to request for a quota swap. With the ISSF accepting the request, one of the quota places was exchanged for a female trap shooter, which made way for Shreyasi to be included in the team.

"We had requested the ISSF to change one quota place from 10m air pistol women to trap women and have received correspondence from them that it has been accepted," Kunwar Sultan Singh, the NRAI's secretary general, was quoted as saying by PTI.
The announcement was made on June 21, 2024. With the inclusion of Shreyasi, India completes its full quota of two starts in the women's trap event. She will accompany Rajeshwari Kumari in the women's trap event for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"As a result, Shreyasi Singh has now been added to the original list of 20 names published and we will have a full quota of two starts in the women's trap event," Singh added.
The Indian shooting contingent now comprises 21 members across three different disciplines. Shreyasi's inclusion bolsters the team and increases India's chances of winning medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The rifle team has eight members. Seven members make up the pistol team, while six members are a part of the shotgun team.
The Indian shooters will be seen participating in 28 events. These include mixed competitions as well. The Olympic Games are scheduled to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
2012 was the last time when the Indian shooters bagged Olympic medals where Vijay Kumar clinched silver while Gagan Narang bagged bronze at the London Games. Abhinav Bindra achieved a historic feat by winning the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The 32-year-old Shreyasi Singh, who is a skilled shooter, is also an active politician, representing the Jamui constituency in the Bihar Assembly as a member of the BJP.
With a full quota shooting team set to travel to Paris, India will be keen to end the medal drought since the 2012 London Olympics.
