Simran delivered a remarkable performance at the Paris Paralympics 2024, winning a bronze medal in the women's 200m T12 final and lifting India's medal count to 28 on September 7 at the event.
With a personal best time of 24.75 seconds, the 24-year-old showed her mettle on the global stage, once again asserting herself as one of the premier athletes in her classification.

The T12 category is for competitors with visual impairments, and Simran's journey to success has been shaped by overcoming adversity at every step. Simran's path has been filled with challenges from birth. Born prematurely, she spent her early weeks in an incubator, during which her visual impairment was discovered.
Her condition, however, never deterred her from pursuing her passion for athletics. Overcoming personal hardships, including the illness and loss of her father, Simran pushed forward with an indomitable spirit. Her father's passing deeply affected her, yet it also became a motivating factor that kept her determined to fulfil his dreams of seeing her excel in sports.
Earlier this year, Simran earned the title of world champion in the same 200m T12 event during the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan. Her victory there set the stage for her Paralympic success, and despite fierce competition, Simran once again proved why she's a global force in her category.
While her bronze in the 200m stands as a crowning achievement, the Paris Games were a tough test overall. She had narrowly missed out on a medal in the 100m event, finishing just outside the podium. Undeterred by that result, she returned with renewed determination for the 200m race, showcasing her competitive spirit and hunger to succeed.
