Parveen Hooda is an Indian boxer who mainly competes in the Light-Welterweight division.
Growing up, Parveen was so resource-strapped that she couldn't even afford boxing gloves. Their primary means of livelihood was a buffalo and a modest piece of arable land. Her life's trajectory shifted in 2011 when Sudhir Hooda, her village Sarpanch, established a handball and boxing academy as a solution to drug addiction and unemployment issues in the village.
Influenced by Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, Parveen seized the opportunity and persisted in following her new path. Her penchant for physical confrontations with male classmates at school even further moored her toward boxing.

In 2019, Parveen's triumph over seasoned player Sarita Devi thrust her into the spotlight during local trials. Her spectacular year finished with her clinching a gold medal in the South Asian Games, and her winning streak has persisted since.
After clinching the 2021 National Champion title in the 63kg category, Parveen achieved the pinnacle of her career by earning a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships held in Turkey. She followed this up and cemented her burgeoning prominence by winning gold at the Asian Championships in Jordan in 2022.
