PGTI member Ashok Kumar's team wins Pro-Am event of SAIL Open

Greater Noida, Feb 24 (UNI) Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) member Ashok Kumar's team comprising amateurs D P Tripathi and V K Sibal won the the Pro-Am event of the SAIL Open played at the Jaypee Greens Golf Course, here today.

Their team total was seventeen under 55. Ashok Kumar won 300 dollars for leading his team to victory.

In second place was the team led by American professional Anthony Kang that totaled sixteen under 56. His team included amateurs Harinder Sikka, Didar Singh and Romario James.

Australian professional David Bransdon's team comprising of amateurs Ravi Kapoor, Sushil Kumar and U S Datt finished second runners-up. Their team total was fifteen under 57.

The prize for the closest shot to the pin on Hole number seven was won by V K Sibal. His shot landed six feet and an inch short of the pin.

The prize for the longest drive on hole number 15 was won by Romario James who came up with a drive of 292 yards.

One of the highlights of the day was the display of trick shots and magic by Australian professional Henry Epstein that enthralled one and all.

The format for the Pro-Am event was modified scramble, wherein the best tee-shot by a team was selected and the other members of the same team dropped their respective balls within one club length of the best ball on the fairway and placed it within six inches of the best ball on the green.

Each team comprised of one professional and three amateurs. The handicap of each team was 3/4th of the combined handicap of the three amateurs.
