Rio de Janeiro, Aug 8: The third day at Rio Olympics 2016 featured some of the big names of the sporting world.

Tennis stars Serena Williams and Venus Williams were involvd in a doubles encounter which they lost unfortunately. World number 1 Novak Djokovic faced Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro. Djokovic was shocked by the Argentine as he lost the game.

The most decorated Olympian ever USA's Michael Phelps bagged his 19th Olympic gold medal with team USA in the 4x100 relay category.

For India it was a disappointing day except for Dipa Karmakar who created history by qualifying for the finals of women's gymnastic. [Who is Dipa Karmakar]

The Indian women's hockey team managed a draw against Japan. Women's archery team lost in the quarter-final to Russia. In shooting Heena Sindhu lost.
