Plantation drive undertaken as countdown to Military Games

Guwahati, July 7 (UNI) The countdown for the World Military Games was marked in Asom today with a tree plantation by the Red Horn division in Tamulpur in Baska district.

The fourth edition of the Military Games would be held at Hyderabad and Mumbai from October 14-21. The former hosts were Rome, Zagreb and Catania.

More than 121 countries have already confirmed their participation. Altogether 2200 male and 650 female athletes would compete in 14 disciplines. About 1150 officials would be also be attending the meet.

As part of today's programme under mission 'Greening India', as part of the host country's run-up for the sports meet, a painting and essay writing competition were also organized among school children.

Tree plantation on a large scale was carried out and many ornamental, shady and fruit tress were planted in Tamulpur military garrison.

A host of top military officers, local leaders and administration officials were also present on the occasion.
