In a dramatic comeback, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-119, handing them their first loss of the season. Deni Avdija led with 26 points as Portland rallied from a significant deficit.

The Portland Trail Blazers pulled off a thrilling comeback, overcoming a 22-point deficit to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-119. Deni Avdija was instrumental with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Jrue Holiday contributed 22 points, including crucial free throws that secured the win with six seconds remaining. Jerami Grant added 20 points from the bench as Portland handed the defending NBA champions their first loss of the season.

In a dramatic finish, Isaiah Joe of the Thunder was fouled on a jumper with just half a second left. A replay review revealed his toe was on the line, leading him to make one free throw and intentionally miss the second. Oklahoma City failed to convert on a last-second tip-in attempt. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 35 points, while Aaron Wiggins added 27.

Blazers Defeat Thunder for First Loss

The New York Knicks spoiled Anthony Edwards' return to action by defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 137-114. OG Anunoby led with 25 points, while Jalen Brunson contributed 23 points, along with 10 assists and seven rebounds. Josh Hart added another 18 points for the Knicks, who dominated the second half and maintained their unbeaten record at Madison Square Garden.

Despite Edwards scoring 15 points in his return after missing four games due to a hamstring injury, he couldn't prevent his team from being outscored by 25 points during his time on the court. The Knicks capitalised on their offensive rebounds, converting them into significant second-chance points.

Luka Doncic starred for the Los Angeles Lakers with an impressive performance of 35 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds, and five steals in their narrow victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers rallied late in the game to secure a fifth consecutive win with a scoreline of 118-116. They ended on a strong note with a decisive run in the final minutes.

The Spurs had one last opportunity when Marcus Smart committed an inbound violation following Kelly Olynyk's putback layup. Justin Champagnie was fouled during an attempt to tip in but missed his first free throw. The Spurs couldn't capitalise on this chance as no one managed to tip in his second miss at the buzzer.

Deandre Ayton supported Doncic's efforts with his own contribution of 22 points and ten rebounds for Los Angeles. Victor Wembanyama scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out late in the game for San Antonio. Stephon Castle and Jeremy Sochan each added another sixteen points for their team.

The Lakers' victory extended their strong start to this season despite facing challenges from opponents like San Antonio who began their campaign strongly but have now suffered two consecutive losses after winning their first five games.
