Porzingis Healthy Hopes For Warriors As He Aims For A Strong Finish To The NBA Season

Kristaps Porzingis aims for a healthy finish with the Golden State Warriors after returning from illness and addressing prior POTS concerns. He seeks rhythm and a postseason push, contributing with scoring, rebounding and playmaking as the team fights for a solid playoff position.

Kristaps Porzingis is aiming for a strong finish to the campaign after returning to Golden State Warriors duty. In Porzingis’ second game back, Golden State lost 104-97 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Porzingis contributed nine points, five rebounds, five assists and one block in 23 minutes, as the Warriors moved to 32-31 and eighth in the Western Conference.

Porzingis, who arrived from the Atlanta Hawks last month, continues to settle into Golden State’s system while regaining sharpness. The 30-year-old featured off the bench against Oklahoma City on Saturday and is still rebuilding timing on both ends. The Warriors will rely on Porzingis’ size and shooting as they push to secure a playoff place.

Porzingis Eyes Healthy Finish with Warriors

The recent spell on the sidelines followed a difficult year for Kristaps Porzingis, who had missed the previous six games because of illness. Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) after contracting a virus in February 2025. The condition affects the autonomic nervous system, can raise heart rate quickly, and often brings dizziness and fatigue for players.

After this latest return, Kristaps Porzingis sounded more confident about long-term health with the Golden State Warriors. "I believe I will be healthy now, Porzingis said. This is what I really feel. Not to sell anything because I've been in and out, out again. But this time, I really feel this is it." Those words underline how important stability now feels to Porzingis.

Kristaps Porzingis admitted the interruption had been frustrating while Golden State Warriors teammates continued without Porzingis. "Sitting out a couple of games was stinging me a little bit. Today was OK. Feeling a little heavy, shot not in a good rhythm yet. Only 20 games left or so. I want to catch a really good rhythm and see if we can do anything in the postseason."

Discussion around Kristaps Porzingis and POTS increased when Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr initially suggested Porzingis did not have the condition. Kerr later withdrew those remarks and apologised. Porzingis explained how the episode felt. "It wasn't ideal, Porzingis said. Because it put something out again. So, people start talking again. I told Steve it was okay, Iknow he didn't mean anything, didn't want to create hype around my health. He just said what he knew at the moment."

With around 20 regular-season games remaining, both Kristaps Porzingis and the Golden State Warriors are focused on building rhythm before the playoffs. Porzingis’ health, shooting range and versatility could be central to Golden State’s hopes of protecting their current eighth position in the Western Conference and challenging deeper once the postseason begins.
