Post 26/11, security hiked for Chennai Open

Chennai, Jan 4: Security arrangements have been beefed-up for the 14th edition of the Chennai Open which is scheduled to commence on Monday, Jan 5. This measure is taken in the
wake of recent Mumbai terror attacks.

Reg Dickson, who handled the security arrangements during the India-England two-Test series is in charge of ATP Tour event. He said, "It does present different channels. Security for cricket was enhanced because of the spectator support and also the number of entry and exit points. We conducted a pre-event check in formalising the security arrangements for this tennis tournament and security initiatives were addressed to."

He added that basic security advices will be given to all the tennis players also there is no differentiation between Indian and overseas players. "We are assisting organisers of
the event in preparation of this major tournament in security perspective. Our role will be to add to the existing security arrangements with lot of police personnel," he added.

Meanwhile, sources in IMG, who own the ATP Chennai Open said that though there is no cause of concern security measures are heightened to avoid any unwanted event.
