Powar has nothing special on mind to celebrate his B'day
Chittagong, May 20 (UNI) Within 48-hours of his Test debut, beefy allrounder Romesh Powar celebrated his 30th birthday today.
Talking to UNI on his birthday, Powar said, ''Yes, I have grown a year older and that is significant. I am happy.'' Asked whether there were any special plans for today, he said, ''Nothing special.'' The portly offie who was greeted with birthday messages from his teammates, could not celebrate it on the field as the third day's play was washed away by persistent rains.
The Indian squad's administrative manager Surendra Bhave said that the team management was planning to celebrate, ''May be, we will do something in the evening to give him some good moments on this joyous occasion.'' The Mumbaikar, known for his combative and competitive mentality, has already played 20 ODIs for India after beginning his international career against Pakistan in 2004.
He has a half-century and 27 wickets from the ODIs to show till now.
