Prabagaran claims Royal Challenge championship

Coimbatore, Feb 18 (UNI) Sri Lanka's K Prabagaran clinched the 106th Royal Challenge All India Amateur Golf Championship title here today defeating India's Simarjeet Singh.

With this win, Prabagaran became the third player from Sri Lanka to win the championship.

''I played well and was confident in winning the final,'' said Prabagaran.

''I am delighted with the way I stroked. I started with four birdies that probably set the tone,'' he added.

Prabagaran, who was down 0-1 after the first 18, started the second session in style with a birdie on the first (19th of the contest) to level the score. He followed it up with another birdie to go one up.

''I was very much in contention and confident of pulling it off, but I missed an easy putt on the 15th, which opened the doors for Prabagaran,'' said Simarjeet.
