Tintu Luka's family not happy with PT Usha and her academy

By Sujata Sarkar

Bengaluru, Oct 8: She is called as one of her most closest and promising students. There is a common notion all over the country that Tintu Luka is made of her! The scenario seems to have changed after Rio Olympics.

Tintu had failed to qualify for the final round in the Rio Games in her 800-metre event. And the failure has also frustrated Luka's family members. So, they have started complaining about the infrastructure of the academy of Luka's teacher, the legendary PT Usha.

Tintu's family members have complained that Usha, in spite of, earning a lot of money through big amounts of financial grant has not made the academy modern and scientific.

But Usha looked very firm in her defence. She said, "Please show me how many academies in the country have physiotherapist, sports psychologists, nutrition specialist. Please show me how many academies in the country where only athletics is being played."

Usha did not want to speak much on Tintu's failure in the Rio Olympics. She only explained, "Everybody knows Tintu still lives at our home. And she has been respectful to me as before. So, I am not much bothered if any other passes some comments. But at the same time, I must point out at one thing that Tintu had only two exposure trips before the Olympics. Was it enough for an athlete who was going to take part in an event like Olympics?."

And the on the failure of all the 33 athletes who took part in Rio where only 2 qualified for the final round, the former sprint queen clarified, "I think among those 33 athletes there were many who just wanted to be present in Rio. And they became happy with that."

Looking forward to the Asian Championship and Asian Games in 2018, Usha is all set to produce a few more promising athletes.

According to Usha, among them is Jishna Matheu, who could be in line to represent India. She said, "Jishna is very promising. There is another female, Sabita. So, in the next couple of years more students from my academy will be representing India. And my aim is only that."
