Patiala, Oct 26 (UNI) In a well-contested match, Punjab triumphed over Himachal Pradesh by 52 runs in the North Zone Inter-State cricket tournament (Under-19) for Vinoo Mankad Trophy here today at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium.
Punjab won the toss and batting first, scored 266 runs in the allotted 50 overs, losing 5 wickets. Kunwar Raina scored a brilliant century (117) and was unbeaten. He hit 10 fours in his scintillating innings. Preetkamal scored an unbeaten 43, while Yuvraj scored 22.
For Himachal Pradesh, Rishi Dhawan captured 2 wickets, conceding 53 runs and Ajay Rana and S Verma took one wicket each, giving away 22 and 39 runs respectively.
In reply, Himachal Pradesh could muster 214 runs in 50 overs, losing 8 wickets. Rishi Dhawan (52) and Ravikant Saini (50) scored neatly-compiled half centuries.
For Punjab, Jaskaran bowled exceedingly well to bag 3 for 31 and Deepak Bansal took 2 for 38.
Punjab won the match by 52 runs.
