Punjab to clash with BSF for the title tommorrow

Jalandhar, Dec 15 (UNI) Hosts Punjab Police will clash with Border Security Force for the title in the 56th All India Police Hockey championship to be held at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here tommorrow.

In the first semi-final match of the day, Punjab blanked Maharashtra by 4-0, Punjab took lead by converting penulty corner in the 18th minute by Gagan Ajit Singh, after drawing blank in the 5th minute.

In the second half, Daljit Singh sounded the board with a field goal in the 37 minute, while Jugraj Singh and Kuljeet Singh converted one penulty corner each in the 63rd and 70th minutes respectively.

Maharashtra failed to convert any of the four penulty corners allotted to it.

In another one-sided semi-final, BSF mauled Jammu and Kashmir by 7-0. John Jo Jo opened the account for BSF by converting penulty corner in the 10th minute, while Captain Habil Topno fired first field goal in the 15th minute. Marinus Lakra posted field goal in 33rd minute and in the next minute, Sharanjit Singh sounded the board with a field goal.

In the second half, Varinderjit Singh converted penulty corner in the 47th minute followed by two more penulty corners by Parkash Kerketta in the 62nd and 66th minutes. Jammu and Kashmir failed to score any goal the match.
