Punjabi University lifters dominate in All India meet

Anandpur Sahib, Jan 23 (UNI) Punjabi University Patiala dominated the six-day All India Inter University Weight lifting, power lifting and best Physique championship concluded at Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College Anandpur Sahib today.

The Punjabi University bagged four out of five titles in the championship.

The university bagged first position in women section of weight lifting with 182 points, Lucknow University bagged second position with 144 points, while Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar bagged third position with 134 points.

In Men's section, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar bagged overall trophy with 201 points, Punjabi University Patiala got second position with 200 points while MDU Rohtak bagged third position with 131 points.

Punjabi University bagged overall trophy in the men's power lifting competitions with 69 points, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar got second position with 56 points while Kurukshetra University (KU) got third position with 48 points.

In Women's section also, Punjabi University, Patiala bagged overall trophy with 61 points, KU came second with 57 points while Mumbai University bagged third position with 46 points.

Jagdeep Singh of Punjabi University Patiala won the Best Physique championship.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Gulzar Singh Ranike gave away the prizes to the winners.
