London, June 7(ANI): British analyst and betting industry insiders have predicted that with three billion pounds on board, the World Cup in South Africa will be the biggest gambling splurge in history.
They expected the sum to be spent worldwide on legal, as well as illegal, bets during the tournament.
Lorien Pilling, spokesman for British-based Global Betting and Gaming Consultants, said interest in the tournament would be high, as virtually all the major teams had qualified, The Daily Star reports.
European gamblers would also be aided by a one-hour time difference with South Africa, which would mean that fans in the UK would have plenty of time on match days to place bets. (ANI)
