Quality of game pulls crowd, not entertainment

Bangalore, Apr 17 (UNI) Former Team India skipper Rahul Dravid today said that it is quality of cricket that pulls the crowd and not entertainment arranged before the match.

Addressing a press conference on the eve of the IPL T20 beginning here tomorrow, Dravid, who leads the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, commenting on the bash arranged to give a colour to the new initiative to promote cricket, said ''it is quality that pulls the crowd. If the quality of cricket is good, there will be crowd and not the entertainment arranged.'' The Wall' agreed with his colleague Sorauv Ganguly stating that ''playing for a country is paramount for any international player,'' he added.

When asked about the performance of Washington Cheers team performing tomorrow to mark the launch of IPL, he said ''it is going to be a good game and entertainment.However, the entertainment may not come in the way of players performance.'' ''I am looking forward to the game and all other players are also eagerly waiting beginning of the match,'' he added.

When asked whether he feels tensed captaining a T20 team, Dravid said certainly T20 is a fast game and one has to think quickly since there will be very less time to perform. However, it will be very exciting. Certainly captaining T20 is very exciting as it is a fast game and thinking should also be quick.'' UNI MSP GKT AB RK2105
