Railways beat Maharashtra 11-0 in quarter final

Jalandhar, Feb 7 (UNI) Defending champions, Indian Railways thrashed Maharashtra with a huge margin of 11-0 in the quarter final match of the 55th Rakshak Senior Women Hockey championship played at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.

Saba Anjum opened the account for Railways by posting a field goal in the 8th minute of the game and in the next minute, she converted a penalty corner and again sounded the board with another field goal in the 53rd minute. Binita Xess was the highest scorer, she converted one penalty corner and fired three field goals.

Captain Surinder Kaur sounded the board with a field goal in the 22nd minute, while Ranjita, Subhadra and Rajwinder scored one goal each.

In another match, that was played between Bombay and Delhi, Bombay girls defeated Delhi by (6-1). Though, Sangeeta Singh scored the first goal for Delhi in the 6th minute but after that only Bombay girls scored goals.

Bombay Captain Sushma Kharab scored the first goal for her team in the 27th minute by converting a penalty corner and after that Nishi Chauhan fired two field goals in the 40th and 69th minutes, also Usha Singh sounded the board with two field goals continuously in the 50th and 61st minutes. In the 66th minute, Sarita Hanuman posted another field goal for Bombay.

In the third match of the day, Pepsu routed Maharashtra by 3-0.

Prakash Choudhary scored all the goals for Pepsu by posting first field goal in the 24th and by converting two penalty corners in the 31st and 56th minutes respectively.

In the last match of the day that was held between Indian University and Andhra Pradesh, Indian University thrashed Andhra Pradesh by 5-1.
