Railways women rout Maharashtra and enter semi-finals

Jaipur, Dec 30 (UNI) Twenty three times champion Railways routed Maharashtra 3-0 in a one sided encounter and entered the women's semi-final in the 56th Senior National Volleyball Championship at the SMS Indoor hall here today.

Railways who took hardly 52 minutes to beat Maharashtra by 25-11, 25-11, 25-8, will now meet Tamilnadu in the semi-final. The later had to struggle hard for 108 minutes to prevail over Andhra Pradesh in a gruelling five setter quarter-final. They won by 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-7. The other semi-final will be played between West Bengal and Kerela-both which is slatted for tomorrow.

West Bengal made short work of Chandigarh, beating them by 3-0 in 62 minutes while Kerela too whipped Karnataka by an identical score in only 55 minutes.
