Rajasthan in command against Sikkim in Cooch-Behar trophy

Panchkula, Nov 20 (UNI) Fine bowling by Gajender Singh (4 for 26) and a magnificent opening wicket unbeaten partnership of 120 runs between Ankit (70)and Awijit (36) put Rajasthan in command against Sikkim on the first day of the All-India Under-19 Cricket Championship for the Cooch-Behar trophy (Plate group) here today .

In reply to Sikkim's first innings total of 138 all out, Rajasthan were 120 without any loss.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Sikkim decided to bat first .

Rajasthan medium pacers Azharudin and Jagsimran moved the ball both ways and at one stage, Sikkim were reduced to 40 for 4, as both the bowlers accounted for 2 wickets apiece.

Thereafter Nishant (40) and Kulbir steadied the ship for a while, but introduction of left arm spinner Gajender Singh proved deceptive. The Sikkim batsmen could not adjust and resist the variation in flight and wickets trumbled in a heap.

The onslaught towards the end by Sandeep Bhardwaj who scored a brisk 31 runs enabled Sikkim to enter three figures. The North East side were all out for 138 runs in 57.3 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan were in a commanding position with openers Ankit unbeaten on 70 and Avijeet on 36 at stumps without being separated. Ankit hit seven fours. At close Rajasthan were 120 for no loss in 32 overs.
