Indian youngster, Ramita Jindal joined an elusive list after she made her way into the final round of 10m air rifle event in Paris Olympics 2024. She joined the likes of Anjali Bhagwat, Suma Shirur and Manu Bhaker in becoming the fourth woman shooter from the country to reach final round in Olympics.

Both Anjali Bhagwat and Suma Shirur had represented India at the Grandest stage in 2000 and 2004 Olympics. Manu Bhaker upped her legacy by one when she became the first Indian woman to claim a medal at the Olympics, ending the nation's 12-year wait.

Ramit Jindal right joined Manu Bhaker and two others in an elusive list on Sunday July 28

The young Indian sensation shot 221.7 to finish third in the final to claim the bronze medal. India's previous Olympic medals came in London in 2012, when rapid-fire pistol shooter Vijay Kumar won silver and 10m air rifle marksman Gagan Narang got bronze.

Anjali Bhagwat: Anjali Bhagwat, a trailblazer in Indian shooting, first captured the nation's attention at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Competing in the 10m air rifle event, Bhagwat not only made it to the final but also set a precedent for future Indian shooters.

Finishing eighth after a tense shoot-off with South Korea's Choi Dae Young, Bhagwat's performance was historic. It was a moment that transformed Indian shooting, as she became the first Indian shooter to win a World Cup and reach the world number one ranking within two years.

Suma Shirur: Suma Shirur followed in Bhagwat's footsteps, making her mark at the Athens 2004 Olympics. Her journey to the Olympics was marked by a stunning performance at the 2004 Asian Shooting Championships, where she shot a perfect score of 400/400 in the qualification rounds, tying the world record.

At Athens, Shirur finished eighth with a score of 497.2 points, solidifying her place among the elite shooters. That same year, she created a joint world record at the Asian Athletics Championships in Kuala Lumpur, winning gold with a total score of 502.3 points.

Manu Bhaker: Three years after the Tokyo Olympics, Manu Bhaker has made a remarkable return to the international stage. At the Paris Olympics qualifying event, Bhaker secured her spot in the final for Indian shooters after 20 years, with an impressive score of 580-27x, finishing third in a competitive field of 45 athletes.

Manu Bhaker ended India's 12-year wait for a shooting medal at the Paris Olympics, securing bronze with a score of 221.7 in the final. She became the fifth Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal, joining Abhinav Bindra, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Vijay Kumar, and Gagan Narang.

Throughout the eight-woman final, Bhaker remained in the top three. Korea's Oh Ye Jin claimed gold with a record score of 243.2, while Kim Yeji took silver with 241.3. In the final elimination round, Bhaker and Kim competed closely for second place. Bhaker's last two shots scored 10.1 and 10.3 but finished behind Kim.

Ramita Jindal: Joining this illustrious group, 20-year-old Ramita has emerged as a rising star in Indian shooting.
