Randhawa finish tied 22nd, Kapur tied 69th in Irish Open
Limerick, Ireland, May 20 (UNI) Ace golfer Jyoti Randhawa squandered the chance of a top-10 finish, carding a decent three-over 75 in difficult conditions to nosedive five rungs to tied 22nd spot after the final round in Irish Open at Adare Manor Golf Resorts near here.
Fresh from winning the DLF Masters at home, Randhawa, tied 17th overnight, could manage only a solitary birdie against two bogeys to aggregate six-over 294.
After barely making the cut, compatriot Shiv Kapur carded a dismal identical fourth round score of three-over 75, mixing six bogeys against three birdies to total a nightmarish 17-over 305.
He was languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard at tied 69th spot.
Meanwhile, highest-ranked Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh had missed the half-way cut after a nightmarish 10-over 82.
Atop the charts, overnight leader Padraig Harrington of Ireland was going great guns and looked the favourite to win the event.
Harrington remained on course to end a 25 year wait for a home success in the Irish Open after moving two shots clear of the field, ahead of second-placed Welshman Bradley Dredge at the 14th hole.
The 2006 European Number one is aiming to be the first Irishman to win his national Open since John O'Leary's 1982 success.
The Dubliner was cheered almost every step of the way and was quick to acknowledge home support.
