Razzaq to miss Asia Cup training camp due to Hampshire assignment

By Super Admin

Islamabad, May 28 (ANI): Veteran Pakistan all rounder, Abdul Razzaq, is likely to miss the training camp ahead of the Asia Cup, as he would be away playing for Hampshire in the Friends Provident T20 competition in England.

Razzaq's manager Umran Khan said that Razzaq would miss the training camp, which would be held under the supervision of head coach Waqar Younis, his deputies Aaqib Javed and Ijaz Ahmed, and would arrive directly in Sri Lanka for the June 15-24 Asia Cup.

"We've put everything in place for Razzaq to play for Hampshire right at the start of the Friends Provident Competition. All the documentation is ready, the necessary approval from the Pakistan Cricket Board has been obtained and the player himself is ready to do his best for Hampshire," Umran told PakPassion.net.

Umran also revealed that Razzaq, who last played a five day game for Pakistan in November 2006, is eager to restart his Test career, and is in talks with the Hampshire management to feature in both one day and four day games during his stint with the county team.

"We are trying to negotiate a deal with Hampshire for Razzaq to play one day and four day cricket for Hampshire this season prior to Pakistan's tour of England. Razzaq has initially only signed for the T20 competition, but if the deal goes through, this will mean that he'll get some four day cricket under his belt prior to the test series against England and Australia," he said.
