Regian Eersel’s Top 3 Performances In ONE Championship

When Regian Eersel joined ONE Championship, his arrival was met with high expectations. But "The Immortal" has certainly lived up to the hype.

Winning both the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Titles, Eersel - now a two-sport king - has passed every test under the promotion's bright lights.

Next, he gets a chance to further his legacy when he defends his lightweight Muay Thai gold against Dmitry Menshikov at ONE Fight Night 11 on Saturday, 10 June, inside Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. That said, let's take a closer look at his top three performances in ONE.

Sinsamut Klinmee II: After beating Sinsamut Klinmee for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title in October at ONE on Prime Video 3, Eersel was hellbent on separating himself from the fold in the immediate rematch.

The duo met at ONE Friday Fights 9 this past March in Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in the heated second showdown that saw both men press forward for four thrilling rounds.

Eersel's body shots on Sinsamut began to pay dividends when the Thai felt the full effect of the two-sport champion's shovel hook in the fourth frame. The punch proved too much for the Thai challenger to handle, and Eersel walked out the victor.

Anthony Njokuani: While this battle between Eersel and Anthony Njokuani took place under kickboxing rules in 2019, it's one of the few bouts where the Surinamese standout faced serious adversity in the ONE Circle.

Njokuani brought the fight to Eersel in the first round of their tussle, remaining on the front foot throughout to leave the Amsterdam-based scrapper needing a big moment to bring the fight in his favor.

Eersel found that moment in the second frame as he fought his way back into the fight, rushed the combat sports veteran against the ropes, and landed a momentous right hand that rendered the Nigerian unable to answer the count.

Nieky Holzken II: After Eersel beat kickboxing legend Nieky Holzken in 2019, he found himself rematching the Dutchman months later. "The Immortal" responded yet again with a fast and furious output that dropped Holzken in the first minute with a flush knee.

Eersel's clean and sharp striking set the tone for the rest of the fight and left Holzken battling to get back into the contest. However, Eersel dominated the five-round battle to once again take home the unanimous decision against his familiar foe.

If Eersel can repeat his form for the tenth successive time in ONE when he meets Menshikov next month in the main event of ONE Fight Night 11, he'll join an illustrious wing of outstanding scrappers to have dominated their division.
