Govt to introduce Rehbar-e-Khel scheme

Srinagar, Apr 7: Jammu and Kashmir government is seriously considering to introduce Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) scheme in the sports sector in the state where a Rs 400 crore plan has been prepared for construction of Indoor and Outdoor stadium.

Sports Minister Haji Nisar Ali said the government was serious in introducing Rehbar-e-Khel scheme (ReK) in the sports sector which would open employment avenues for trained physical education youth besides promoting sports activities in the state.

Hundreds of trained physical youths are unemployed besides most of the schools in the state are without such teachers.

Haji Nissar said government was taking all necessary measures to groom youth in sports ambience to prepare them for national and international competitions.

He said Rs 400 crore proposal envisaging construction of Indoor and Outdoor stadiums in the state has been prepared for submission to Centre for securing grants.

He said polytechnic colleges were also being opened at every district headquarter for producing technically trained youth in market-oriented trades for giving fillip to techno-industrial activities in the state.
