The 17th edition of Asian Games begin in Incheon, South Korea, today. About 13,000 athletes are expected to vie for medals in 36 sports. 516 athletes from India will be seen in action.

The first Asian Games were held in New Delhi in 1951 and India won 51 medals. The best haul for India was in the last edition in Guangzhou (2010) when they bagged 65 medals which included 14 gold.
