Rio Olympics: My best was not enough, says Abhinav Bindra after missing bronze

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 9: It was heartbreak for Abhinav Bindra and India last night (August 8) as he missed out on a bronze medal at Rio Olympics 2016. With a fourth-place finish, he ended his incredible Olympic journey.

In the 10 metres Air Rifle final on Monday, Bindra was involved in a shoot-off with Serhiy Kulish for the 3rd spot and the hopes ended by a .5 margin at Deodoro Olympic Shooting Centre. (Twitterati slams Shobhaa De for 'waste of money' comment)

Despite missing out on a podium finish, Bindra leaves behind a legacy in shooting. He competed in 5 Olympics.

"Thank you all for your support. I did my best , which was not enough. It's been a good ride!," the 33-year-old Bindra tweeted after retiring from the sport.

Bindra said he will not change his decision to quit the sport. "I'm done, I've announced my retirement, so there's no reconsideration," he said.

He also said he would be off social media for a couple of weeks. "I am off social media for a couple of weeks folks. See you all on the other side. !!," he tweeted.
