Rio de Janeiro, Aug 6: Joy turned into despair as India's Jitu Rai finished 8th and last in the final of the 10m Air Pistol men's event at the Rio Olympics 2016 here today (August 6).
After having qualified for the final earlier in the day, much was expected from Jitu in the medal round. But he failed to live upto the expectations and was last in the 8-man final stage.
In the final, Jitu had scores of 28.9, 30.0 and 19.8 (Total 78.7) to end a poor 8th. In the qualifying round he had scored 580, including 22 10s, after posting rounds of 96, 96, 98, 96, 96, 98.
It was a disappointing day earlier as India's women shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul failed to make the final in 10m Air Rifle event.
