Rio Olympics: Usain Bolt aims to be 'immortal' with 2 more golds

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 15: After creating Olympic history with his 3rd successive 100-metre gold on Sunday night (August 14), Usain Bolt is aiming to sign off from Brazil as an "immortal".

Jamaican Bolt won the 100m dash at the Olympic Stadium in a time of 9.81 seconds. After being left behind by American Justin Gatlin, Bolt surged ahead in the final 10 to 15 metres to etch his name in Olympic history. (Bolt calls it 'shocking')

Usain Bolt aims to be 'immortal'

Bolt, in his final Olympics, completed an unprecedented hat-trick of 100m titles. He had won in previous 2 Games - Beijing 2008 and London 2012. (Bolt wins in London 2012)

Hailed as the greatest sprinter, Bolt will turn 30 on August 21, the day Rio Olympics will end. Before that he will aim to complete a record Treble Treble. (Sprint double for Bolt)

In Beijing and London, Bolt won 3 sprint golds - 100m 200m and 4x100 relay. With already 1 gold in his big collection, Bolt is eyeing the other 2 this week.

"It was brilliant. I didn't go so fast but I'm so happy I won. I told you guys I was going to do it," Bolt said after winning the 100m title in Rio.

"Somebody said I can become immortal. Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal," Bolt added talking about 200m and 4x100m relay.

On August 16 (Tuesday), Bolt will be back on the track to compete in the 200m heats. The final is on August 18 (Thursday). Same day he will run in 4x100m relay heats with the medal round slated for August 19 (Friday).


Bolt's schedule for 200m and 4x100m relay (In India times)

August 16 (Tuesday) - 200m heats - 8.20 PM IST onwards

August 18 (Thursday) - 200m semi-finals - 6.30 AM IST onwards

August 18 - 4x100 relay heats - 8.10 PM IST onwards

August 19 (Friday) - 200m final - 7.00 AM IST

August 20 (Saturday) - 4x100m relay final - 7.05 AM IST
