Ritwik, Joshna among the Squash probables

New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) National squash champions Ritwik Bhattacharya, Saurav Ghosal, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal are among the 26 probables who have been shortlisted to receive state of art training and exposure in preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Under the Scheme for 'Preparation of Indian Teams for Commonwealth Games, the sports ministry appointed steering committee approved the name of these players (14 men and 12 women) for their inclusion in the ''Core Group''.

As per the scheme, training is to be provided to 30 (15 men and 15 women) Squash players.

Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) has been asked to furnish four more names to fill all slots.

In addition, four Indians and one Foreign Coaches have also been identified in consultations with SRFI.

The probables: Men: Ritwik Bhattacharya, Siddharth Suchde, Saurav Ghosal, Gaurav Nandrajog, Harinder Pal Singh, Naresh Kumar, Partha Sharma, Vikram Malhotra, Aditya Jagtap, Sandeep Jangra, Ravi Dixit, Vikas Jangra, Ramit Tandon and Karan Malik.

Women: Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, Anwesha Reddy, Surbhi Mishra, Anaka Alankamony, Harita Om Prakash, Dheeya Somaiya, Saumya Karki, Ankita Sharma, Shria Khatri, Sachika Balvani and Aparajitha Balamurukan.

National Coach: Cyrus Poncha, Coaches: B Balamurugam, Hari Om Tripathi, Gautam Das Foreign Coach: Subramaniam Singaraveloo.

For effective assessment and review of the performance of the players and coaches at regular intervals, the Committee has asked the SRFI to design a format in consultation with Chief National Coach indicating various parameters.
