Roddick, Clijsters win at Sony Ericsson Open

Miami, Apr 5: Andy Roddick and Kim Clijsters claimed the men's and the women's title respectively at the prestigious Sony Ericsson Open.

While Andy Roddick had to defeat Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych in the finals on Sunday, Apr 4, Clijsters had to face Venus Williams on Saturday, Apr 3.

Claiming his 29th title, American Roddick ended the Berdych's campaign with a 7-5 6-4 win. This comes as a major boast to the former world number one after he fell to Croatian Ivan Ljubicic in the Indian Wells finals just two weeks ago.

"Obviously it's a big title for me. I felt a little bit of pressure to win this one, because I had a pretty good opportunity in Indian Wells and didn't come through there," Roddick is quoted as saying.

Clijsters, who is now been dubbed the comeback queen, dished out a 6-2, 6-1 defeat to Venus. With this 58-minute fight US Open champion also ended the American's 15-match winning streak.

"I felt from the beginning I was ready to go and really seeing the ball well," said Clijsters, who took a two year break from the sport to marry and have a child.
