Rodtang And Takeru To Settle Score For Interim Flyweight Kickboxing Crown At ONE Samurai 1

By MyKhel Staff

Japanese kickboxing legend Takeru Segawa will get his chance to avenge his most devastating defeat when he faces Thai megastar Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE Samurai 1 on Wednesday, 29 April, inside Tokyo's Ariake Arena.

The five-round super-fight serves as Takeru's retirement bout, providing the 34-year-old three-division K-1 Champion an opportunity to close his legendary career on home soil against the man who brutally stopped him just over a year ago.

These generational strikers first collided in March 2025 at ONE 172, where Rodtang delivered one of the most spectacular knockouts in promotional history. The 28-year-old Thai demolished Takeru in just 80 seconds, earning a US$50,000 performance bonus for his memorable destruction of the Japanese icon.

"The Iron Man" has been nearly unstoppable since making his ONE Championship debut in 2018. The former six-time flyweight Muay Thai World Champion carries a 17-2 promotional record and a staggering 274-43 career mark into this rematch.

Takeru's path since that devastating loss has been one of redemption and reflection. The Team Vasileus representative bounced back to close 2025 with a second-round TKO victory over Denis Puric.

The 45-5 career record speaks to "Natural Born Krusher's" world-class striking credentials built over years dominating multiple weight classes. His ONE debut came in January 2024 against Superlek, producing an instant classic that showcased why the Japanese star commanded such respect globally.

Now, with everything on the line and his career finale approaching, Takeru gets one more chance to prove he belongs in the conversation with flyweight striking's absolute best. The interim title adds title stakes to what already promised to be an emotionally charged rematch.

For Rodtang, this represents an opportunity to cement his dominance yet again over another striking legend while capturing kickboxing gold to complement his Muay Thai accomplishments. The Thai warrior has nothing left to prove but continues hunting new challenges and bigger stages.
